IOTA Membership Value Surges with Launch of ‘DocCheck’ Data Intelligence Tool

2 Mar 2026 | Press Release

UK, 25 February 2026: The International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA) has added greater strategic value for its members by launching DocCheck, a new reference and data intelligence service that supports document verification and authentication. Members have been using the service since mid-January 2026.

DocCheck enables IOTA members to instantly access and analyse passports, identity documents, and banknotes from around the world through a secure online platform. The database currently covers 220 countries and territories and provides detailed information on document design and security features, allowing rapid comparison and validation.

DocCheck is offered free to members and adds to IOTA’s current services, such as the Security Image Register (SIR), Holography & Optical Technology News™ (HOTN), patent monitoring updates, and tender alerts. By including DocCheck in its membership package, IOTA aims to deliver both operational value and cost efficiencies for members who require reliable global reference data.

Dr Mark Deakes, Chairman of IOTA, said: ‘the launch of DocCheck marks an important step in our commitment to deliver practical value to members and represents a major step forward for IOTA’s business intelligence services. Access to accurate and up-to-date reference information is essential for professionals working in document security and authentication. By making DocCheck available to members, we are strengthening our role as a trusted partner to the global optical security community.’

Building on a strong 2025

The introduction of DocCheck follows a year of strategic progress for IOTA in 2025. The association transformed its members’ services under the new mandate, participated in major industry forums across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and maintained active conversations with government agencies, technology providers, and other industry partners.

IOTA also increased its efforts to engage members. The association held its first global webinar, Seeing is Believing, which drew over 200 participants from 48 countries. The first Excellence in Optical Technologies Awards, given at ODDS Warsaw, received a record number of entries, showing strong innovation among members.

IOTA also improved its intelligence and protection services last year. The Security Image Register went over 500 registrations, helping protect the copyright of optical security designs. Patent monitoring grew significantly, with more than 1,200 updates sent to members, and HOTN broadened its coverage to offer more technical and market insights.

Outlook for 2026

Looking ahead, IOTA plans to remain a leading voice in optical security technologies. DocCheck will be a key part of this plan by making knowledge more accessible and helping member organisations with their daily work.

In 2026, IOTA launched its global advocacy from HSP EMEA Morocco, held its virtual annual general meeting, planned a technical webinar on optical security in polycarbonate data pages, and will host a workshop at the Banknote Conference in Washington, DC, in May 2026. These activities will help encourage collaboration, share knowledge, and support innovation in the community.
